Hydropower

At global level, the first renewable energy source is hydroelectric power or hydropower, which is produced harnessing the movement of water, such as that of a river, sea waves or ocean currents. Moreover this type of energy can be turned into electricity thanks to the use of turbines and electric generators. As opposed to solar and wind energy, this kind of renewable energy is not intermittent, but it has a big disadvantage: the construction of big dams often involves a negative environmental impact.
